Thank you all so very much! And now the great work begins

Thank you all so very much for your support on this project. Once again I am just so grateful to you all.

There are over five hundred people who wanted to see this game, which just leaves me humbled and determined to get the very best product we can out to you all.

In the next couple of weeks we'll be drafting the new history chapters, working up the optional characters and how they affect the relationship map, and commissioning the new art, as well as starting to finalize what the product will look like. I'll have updates on that later, but with this level of funding we have a lot of latitude to get you something nice to put on your bookshelf!

I will be checking in with more updates as this progresses. Thank you all again so much! Merci beaucoup, mes amis, et je vous souhaite un bon jeu!

Less than 48 Hours to go, and thank you!

We're in the last 48 hours of the Kickstarter and once again I just want to say how grateful and humbled I am by the support you all have shown. Thank you so much! And if you are excited about the game, don't hesitate to pass on the link to people you think might be interested!

I spent some time Sunday talking to another designer about an interesting extension to the game for what will probably be the final stretch goal, so stay tuned!

And although Bastille Day is behind us, I can still say: vive la république! vive la social! vive la Commune!

Thank you all so much!

New Stretch Goals and a Word About New Characters
almost 5 years ago – Tue, Jul 09, 2019 at 12:01:19 AM

We managed to plow through our most recent stretch goal in only two days. Once again I am just humbled and grateful for the support this game has received. And for those of you who came by thanks to Mike Duncan's shout-out on the Revolutions podcast, welcome! Revolutions was a big reason I became interested in writing a game about this period in French history.

There's a new stretch goal up at the very appropriate level of $18,710: two more optional characters for the game, Victor and Anna Jaclard. These two have just missed the cut during almost every phase of the game design, so I am happy to finally let them join the cast. Anna was born in Russia, once turned down a proposal from Fyodor Dostoevsky, and was the sister of  Sofia Kovalevskaya, one of her generation's foremost mathematicians. Victor was a radical, member of the International, and commander of some of the National Guard troops in Montmartre.

All of the characters we're introducing (and planning to introduce) will be optional; Red Carnations was extensively tested using the original twelve characters and the game works very well with just them. However, I am planning to include some different groupings of the new and old characters to let you try out different ways to tell your story: an International-heavy game with the Jaclards, Dominique and Felix, and Elisabeth Dmitrieff, for example. We still hope to get another couple of characters out if we manage to get past this funding goal that will let us create a lot of interesting combinations for your play!

The March of History: New Stretch Goal, and New Card Layouts
almost 5 years ago – Wed, Jun 26, 2019 at 07:29:46 PM

I am very pleased to announce that we have passed the stretch goal that will allow us to get full color art from the amazing Juan Ochoa! Our next goal will allow us to add more historical background to the rules. Why did the Commune emerge at this time in history? What were some of its factions? What were the precursors to the Commune? Just why the heck was 1848 such an important year in European history? What was Montmartre like in 1871? The next goal will give us the resources to help answer all these questions.

I'm also pleased to have put up some of the new card layouts Jason completed which look really great! You can see them on the main KS page.

We have a new stretch goal, now that Elisabeth Dmitrieff has joined the Commune! The next goal, at $12,000, will be full color art in the book by the amazing Juan Ochoa!

As always, your support and belief in the project is so amazing. Thank you all for joining me on this journey!
